Pokémon Uranium Walkthrough: Complete Tandor Region Gym-by-Gym Guide

A complete Pokémon Uranium walkthrough covering every gym, HM, missable Pokémon, and sidequest in Tandor — plus endgame tips for new champions.

Pokémon Uranium is one of the most ambitious fan-made monster-catching RPGs ever built, and its sprawling Tandor region is large enough to leave even veteran trainers wandering in circles. That is exactly why a dependable Pokémon Uranium walkthrough matters: the game buries HM replacements, one-time encounters, and multi-step gym puzzles behind NPC dialogue that is easy to skip. This Pokémon Uranium walkthrough breaks the entire campaign into clear stages, from your first steps in Moki Town to the Championship Site and the post-game cleanup.

Everything below is based on the community-maintained walkthrough documentation and player experience, organized so you can read one section at a time instead of scrolling through a wall of route notes.

Before You Start: Setup and the Moki Town Opening

Before you touch the story, spend two minutes in the options menu. The default control layout does not suit everyone, and the game includes an FPS slider you can nudge up or down mid-session if you run into lag. Save often — Uranium keeps periodic automatic backups in a "Saved Games" folder on your PC, but those snapshots are not continuous, so a manual save habit will save you a lot of grief. Bugs should be reported through the official bug report form rather than worked around silently.

Once you are in the game, loot the PC in your room for a free Potion, then talk to your Auntie downstairs to receive the Running Shoes. Skipping that conversation will simply block you at the door. Outside, the NPC standing in front of the first house on the opposite row hands out a free Rare Candy — hold onto it for the mid-teens rather than burning it at level 8.

Head north to the Pokémon Research Lab, where Professor Bamb'o runs a short Trainer Test that matches you with a starter. Your rival Theo then challenges you immediately.

Starter Matchup vs. Theo

Your starterTypingTheo's PokémonWhy you should win
OrchynxGrass / SteelEletux (Water / Electric)Grass resists Water; Steel absorbs the rest
RaptorchFire / GroundOrchynx (Grass / Steel)Fire shreds Grass and Steel alike
EletuxWater / ElectricRaptorch (Fire / Ground)Water washes out the Fire / Ground typing

Losing this battle does not end the run — the dialogue simply changes. Afterward, visit Theo's house on the east side of town; his father Cameron gives you a PokéPod, which adds a region map, music player, and a phone for trainer rematches. Backtrack to the town exit where Bamb'o is waiting to hand over the Pokédex and your first Poké Balls.

Early Game: Moki Town to the First Badge

Route 1 is your first real training ground. Catch a second Pokémon, then battle Lass Lynette (Owten, Lv. 5) and School Kid Tath (Chyinmunk, Lv. 5) for easy experience. Potions and Antidotes are scattered along the path, including one hidden behind a tree.

West of the stream sits a fisherman's house. He refuses to hand over the Old Rod until you have your first badge, so bookmark this spot and return later.

Kevlar Town has no gym, but it has three things worth your time:

  • Bike shop on your left as you enter — you cannot use a bicycle yet, but you will return with the Bike Wheel.
  • Pokémon Center with a rematchable Rich Boy Mawuli, perfect for grinding before the first gym.
  • Berry Boutique behind the PokéMart, where an NPC hands out free berries.

Player experience suggests a powerful early-game economy loop here: Chyinmunk in the surrounding grass can carry the Pickup ability, which in Uranium guarantees an item after every knockout. Catching several Pickup Chyinmunk and repeatedly rematching Mawuli floods you with sellable items and Rare Candies while leveling your team.

Route 2 is a mountain pass with two paths north. The overland route is blocked by a rockslide, so take Passage Cave. Grab the Escape Rope on entry, catch a Barewl if you want a bulky Steel/Rock body for the coming gym, and talk to the hiker near the exit for a free Revive.

In Nowtoch City, visit the gym first: the odd guard at the top of town gives you the key to Maria's house in the bottom-right corner. She uses Normal-types in the Lv. 10–12 range. After you win the Normal Badge, heal up immediately — Theo ambushes you as you try to leave the city, and beating him rewards HM06 (Rock Smash). With Rock Smash in hand, you can finally collect the Old Rod back on Route 1.

Mid Game: Gyms 2 Through 4 and the West Tandor Loop

Here is the full roadmap for the rest of your journey through Tandor.

From Moki Town, use Rock Smash east to reach Route 3. Grab TM19 (Giga Drain) in the grass beside the sign, and pick up a Rare Candy by lining up with the door of the eastern house and walking straight down. This route is also the only place to catch the Feleng line — Felunge is one of the best False Swipe users in the game thanks to STAB, Intimidate, and Yawn.

Burole Town's gym is a cave, and Davern's team sits around Lv. 15–16. Smash rocks until you find the gem that unlocks the pillars. Afterward, stock up on Poké Balls for Comet Cave.

On Route 4 you will find TM10 (Hidden Power), TM08 (Bulk Up), a Thunderstone, and the Bike Wheel on the beach — trade it at the Kevlar Town shop for a bicycle. Important: once you approach Comet Cave, Theo drags you inside and you cannot backtrack for a while. Inside, every battle is a double battle and Theo heals your team afterward, making this the single best early grinding spot in the game. Bring empty party slots so captured Pokémon have somewhere to go.

Route 5, Route 6, and Rochfale Tunnel connect you toward the coast, offering TM62 (Silver Wind), TM43 (Secret Power), TM40 (Aerial Ace), TM67 (Recycle), and a Rare Candy on a tree stump. Route 6 is also day/night specific territory for Minyan and Lunapup.

Route 7 is linear but loaded with loot: TM11 (Sunny Day), a Sun Stone, a Fire Stone, plus Cassnail and Cocaran encounters. Theo waits on the northern bridge, so heal before you cross.

Bealbeach City is your hub for the third badge. Talk to the woman in the first door for an Egg that eventually yields TM Shock Wave, grab the Amulet Coin from the lady beside the Owten in the park, and check the department store's fifth floor for Leftovers. Your father Kellyn then sends you to Nuclear Plant Epsilon, where you meet Nuclear-type Pokémon for the first time — glass cannons that are weak to almost everything and make excellent leveling targets.

After the third badge, the plant explodes, and you receive a ferry ticket. The Tandor Luxury Cruise holds TM32 (Double Team), which is unavailable anywhere else, plus a Quick Claw. On Route 8, grab the Good Rod from the fisherman and visit Ripley's House at night to earn the Pokémon S51.

Vinoville Town's leader Sheldon runs Steel-types behind a switch-lighting puzzle. Activate a switch, memorize the path, then step on it again to walk the route. A Fairy-type with Charm can neutralize his ace, Tracton, because it lacks a Steel attack.

Late Game and Endgame: Gyms 5–8, Nuclear Plants, and the Championship

In Legen Town, the Tandor Underground opens up, letting you fast-travel between cities. Route 11's nuclear cleanup earns you HM04 (Strength), and the Tinkerer east of the subway gives you Boxing Gloves that smash rocks without a Rock Smash user. Route 9's Daycare is worth a visit for breeding and a Lucky Egg that boosts experience gain.

Take the subway to Burole Town, then push through Route 10's Baykal Forest and the Anthell cave. Amatree Town trades in berries rather than money, and you will need Bug Spray to reach the gym leader. Note that Seikamater, the Bug Queen, cannot be caught — do not waste Poké Balls on her. Defeating her yields Royal Jelly for evolving female Smore, Sponee, or Tricwe. The fire gym follows, and Theo hands over HM03 (Surf) as you leave.

Surf opens up Route 12 and Route 13, home to Titanice, Duplicat, and the only wild Eevee, Spritzee, and Jackdeary in Tandor. Venesi City brings the sixth badge, a Move Deleter, a Move Tutor, and a boat back to Bealbeach for 500.

The Labyrinth hides the Life Orb, the Baariettite Mega Stone, Shadow Claw, Shadow Ball, and the Expert Belt. Route 15 adds the Super Rod, TM24 (Thunderbolt), and an Eviolite, while Route 16's ice puzzles lead to Snowbank Town. Snowbank is a Rare Candy goldmine and the place where Mega Evolution finally unlocks after you clear Vaeryn's five trials. A rival battle follows immediately, so arrive healed.

Professor Bamb'o then gives you HM08 (Dive). Route 14's underwater sections hide Shrimputy, Lavent, and coral shards that act as currency for Tsukinami Village move tutors. Tsukinami itself sells Heavy Balls and cheap Lava Cookies, and the hotel hides a Kiricornite. The final gym's tile puzzle requires you to balance black and white tiles — patterns vary by game load, so work from the on-screen counter.

The finale runs through Nuclear Plant Omicron, Nuclear Plant Zeta (catch a Hazma while you are there), and Victory Road. The Championship draws from the first seven gym leaders plus three extra trainers; beat four, then face the corrupted Actan and finally CURIE with Gamma Urayne. Urayne joins you afterward, and HM07 (Waterfall) waits at Theo's house.

FAQ

How long does a complete Pokémon Uranium walkthrough take? Most players finish the main story in roughly 30 to 45 hours, depending on how much grinding and side content they take on. Following a structured Pokémon Uranium walkthrough like this one trims the backtracking considerably.

Can I permanently miss a gym or get stuck? No. Every gym remains accessible, and the game keeps periodic automatic backups in your Saved Games folder if something goes wrong. The only truly missable content is limited to specific wild Pokémon spawns and timed sidequests.

Is this guide enough for the post-game? It covers the essentials, but the post-game expands fast. After becoming Champion you can hunt Legendaries like Actan and Lanthan, collect remaining Mega Stones, finish the Gold Fossil quest once you have Dive, and take on the Championship a second time.

What is the fastest way to level up early? Comet Cave. Theo joins you for double battles and heals your team after every fight, which makes it the safest place in West Tandor to train weak Pokémon such as Magikarp. Pair that with a team of Pickup Chyinmunk for a steady stream of free items and cash.
